[Mamiya RB67] Franka Solida

The Franka Solida is the only folding camera we currently own. It’s a 6×6 120 folding camera with a 75mm f6,3. There are 3 different settings for the aperture and the shutter speed goes from 1/200 to 1/25th of a second. It’s a pretty basic camera, but because it’s a folding camera it folds rather small. The Solida has been in production a long time. It’s not always clear which version you have because the Franka company produced a lot of versions and remakes under the name of warehouses and big shops. I would guess this one is the Franka Solida from 1953, but it could also be a Franka solida I from 1954.

Because the camera has an rather small aperture, it is not very easy to shoot with other then during daytime. The lens is pretty sharp, but because you can only guestimate the distance, it’s sometimes difficult to get a accurate focus. I have a kind of love/hate relationship with this camera, so I’ll still have to make up my mind about it. I guess so more shooting will have to be done.
